How I Like To Relax

I’m really guilty at not giving myself time to relax. I’m forever running around, either at work, visiting friends, and even at the weekends I’m guilty of being really busy. I’m starting to give myself a little more ‘me’ time. Thing is when life is full of hustle and bustle, it’s hard to give yourself some time to actually sit and relax, but lately there’s a few things I’ve been doing to give myself a chance to relax.

Something I’ve mentioned a few times on the blog is how little I sleep, I just really struggle to nod off. I’ve tried a lot of things to help make me sleepy, all sorts of essential oils and warm baths before bed, but it doesn’t seem to work all that well for me. Lately I’ve been having a cup of warm milk mixed with Zenbev, making a lovely warm chocolately drink. What I like about this is that it’s made up of natural ingredients, which can send you off to the land of nod. When I’m not trying to feel sleepy, something I like using as a natural pick me up is a shot of Organic Ginger Zinger, which has quite the kick to it to get you going! 

Not only is it a good idea that I have products that help me to relax, but that I make my home a calm relaxing space. Personally, I find it much easier to relax in my flat once it’s clean and tidy, but having two cats that love to destroy everything, this isn’t always possible. I can however, make my flat smell nice, helping to contribute to a relaxing atmosphere. While my cats destroy my lounge, I can at least relax with the Dr. Vranjes Fuoco reed diffuser from Jules B. Not only does the bottle remind me of a vintage perfume bottle which looks lovely in my flat, but it smells gorgeous, a mix of sandalwood, patchouli, nutmeg and ginger.

To relax throughout the day I like to drink a lot of tea. I’ve tried all sorts of herbal teas that are calming, but my current favourite is from Clipper teas, green tea with citrus and aloe vera. I’m a big drinker of green tea anyway, but with the addition of citrus and aloe vera it’s a lot less bitter, I’d definitely recommend if you’re not a big green tea fan. I find having a big cup of tea, and sitting down with with a good book is a great way to have a little time to yourself and some calm. 

Something else I’ve been using as a way to relax and step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is through listening to podcasts. My boyfriends always been big into his podcasts, but I’ve never really found any that I’ve got on that well with. Recently I discovered the Acast app, and I’ve found some interesting podcasts on it, my favourite being The Digital Mindfulness Podcast. As someone who works in digital marketing, my life is consumed with all things digital so it can be hard to get away from it, but this podcast helps you to not feel consumed by it all. Other’s I’d recommend are Smart Drug Smarts; all about the science behind smart drugs, Headspace; helping you to feel calm, Motivational Monday; giving you a positive start to your week, and Tranquility du Jour; helping you to find serenity and balance in your life. 

That’s how I’ve been giving myself more time to relax lately, and it’s really helping me to feel a lot calmer, and ready to take on each day as it comes. How do you like to relax? Have you tried any of these?
