Hello, happy new year, happy new decade and all that jazz.
I’ve been trying to sit down since Christmas and write about the last year. But 2019 was without a doubt the craziest year of my life. I started the year thinking things were going to go one way, then discovered I was pregnant, became very ill, packed up the flat I’d barely lived in and moved to Milton Keynes to live with Chris, became a landlord, squeezed in a holiday to Marrakech, oh and had a baby. It was very intense.
With the whole pregnancy making me very sick, and then having an actual baby thing, a lot of things got neglected. I read less, wrote less, gave up any resemblance of a healthy eating and exercise routine, and just generally neglected anything that I enjoyed for myself, and this needs to really change.
My friend and fellow blogger Kate, wrote this great blog post about her plans with 2020, and she mentioned about using a ‘word of the year’ to go by, and I really liked this idea. I’ve previously written blog posts setting myself loads of new year resolutions, and then updated at the end of the year to find I’ve not done any of them, and then repeated them again the next year. So I liked this idea of giving myself a word to go by rather than a resolution, and the words that have spoken to me are ‘calm‘ ‘organise‘ and ‘health‘.
So without writing a load of promises for things I’m going to do in 2020 I want to focus on those words and my intentions for the year ahead. I have things I’m working towards, things I would like to happen, and things that I’m wishing will, and hopefully 2020 will be much less intense than last year.
